Thesis Reading: Image Text Ithaca MFA Program

23 April 2022
06:00 PM

Join us on Saturday, April 23rd at 6:00 PM for a reading and book presentation from Ithaca College’s Image Text MFA program. Alongside a presentation of their visual work, artists in the graduating class of the Image Text MFA will read poetry, prose, and intergenre writing produced across the 2-year program. Everything Must Go!, an artists’ book which emerged from the graduating cohort’s thesis projects, will be on display and available for purchase.

The Image Text Ithaca initiative at Ithaca College brings together an independent press, ongoing workshops and symposia, and a low-residency MFA program at the intersection of writing and photography. Foregrounding collaboration between artists, writers, and those working interdisciplinarily, the program seeks to bring lens-based media and writing into a shared arena of discussion.

Everything Must Go!  is a collection of images, objects, and texts developed as a collaboration between Image Text’s graduating class and artist Jasosn Fulford. Taking inspiration from vintage catalogs and classified ads, Everything Must Go! combines photography and illustration across genre to celebrate and parody the design language of freebies, special offers, and advertisements — and in the spirit of the book’s title, all visual works exhibited will be raffled off to attendees at the end of the event.

Image Text Ithaca’s 2022 graduating class is Karine Baptiste, Caiti Borruso, Eleanor Eichenbaum, Cable Hoover, marissa (m.) iamartino, Erika Morillo, Michael Popp, Irit Reinheimer, and Will Matsuda. All will be present to read.

The event will be held in accordance with 2G+ rules: either proof of vaccinated and boosted status, or vaccinated status and a negative antigen test (not older than 24 hours) will be required for entry. Attendance is free but space is limited; visit this link to register.
